About Lander & Rogers
Lander & Rogers is a large national Australian law firm of 700 people, with offices in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and Canberra. Its corporate teams run buy-side M&A due diligence, drawing on specialists from other practice groups for input.
The challenge
Managing a changing data room was manual and error-prone for the corporate team at Lander & Rogers, and the work was often spread across multiple spreadsheets. Senior lawyers coordinating transactions found that scoping and assigning work could take many hours, and working out what had changed in a data room took up to 20 minutes a day.
Specialists found the same, spending around half an hour each day on a transaction working out what needed their attention.
“Deeligence solves a very real problem that anyone who does M&A is well across… it’s the whole due diligence management piece. It’s not solving every problem a firm can think of, but if you do a deal then the gain you get compounds,” said Simon Davidson, Partner.
Faster, clearer diligence from data room to report
Using Deeligence, the lawyers at Lander & Rogers reported faster review, high accuracy and a short learning curve:
- Up to 78% faster contract review.
- 9/10 for AI accuracy.
- 10/10 for ease of use from coordinators. It took lawyers about 30 minutes to get comfortable with the platform.
- An estimated 118.75 hours saved per deal. Over 70% of the time saved in Deeligence came from non-AI activities, such as allocating work and tracking data room changes.
Transparency was a recurring theme. Lawyers said the evidence behind each finding helped them stay in control and in the driver’s seat, and that the work was easy to export.
“One of my favorite features was the export of the diligence report. It’s so easy to get the report out in our style,” said Douglas Brown, Senior Associate.
What it means for the firm
Lander & Rogers now has first-hand evidence of where Deeligence takes time out of diligence, from allocation and change tracking to contract review and reporting.
